The nonlocal residual symmetry related to truncated Painlevé expansion of third-order Burgers equation is performed. Then, the potential symmetries of the equation are derived; on the basis of nonlocal symmetries, we linearize the nonlinear third-order6 Burgers equation to a linear third-order PDE. Furthermore, the exact solutions of the potential equation are presented in terms of the symmetries. In particular, conservation laws are constructed of the equations.
